Steph relocated to the Twin Cities in November 2009 from NYC, and had twin boys here in 2010.
She has been practicing Yoga since 1991 and teaching since 2003, receiving a first teaching certification from Cyndi Lee’s OM Yoga, NYC, in 2004, and since then supplementing with Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Anatomy, and Yoga Therapy trainings.
Although initially practicing in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga traditions, being hit by a car as a pedestrian in early 2004 ignited an exploration of Yoga geared towards restoring greater physical and energetic balance, and she sought out the Iyengar teachings. Her teaching style now incorporates a blend of Iyengar, slow to moderate paced Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and mindful awareness practices. As she has had to recreate and maintain balance in her own body post-trauma, one-on-one individually tailored yoga sessions are her specialty and where a sense of true mission resides.
Additionally she holds a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, is a writer of poems, songs and a thing or two in between.
