Pilates Trainer
Certified Personal Trainer
Monica came to Balance for Life Fitness in 2016 frustrated with not finding a fitness and movement training program that complemented both her equestrian pursuits and a lifelong history of sports-related injuries. It was at BFL that Monica discovered what a perfect fit Pilates was for her to embrace her desire for lifelong fitness and the needs of an older athlete. Her first posture analysis was both eye-opening and startling - highlighting not only movement imbalances due to injuries, but also body compensations and imbalances due to repetitive stress activities.
Monica is recently retired from a 35+ year career in the medical device industry. Her roles in quality, compliance, and regulatory involved an inordinate amount of time sitting in front of a computer, many times working off of two to three monitors, without taking appropriate breaks. She brings this up as so many people did/do the same thing not realizing the toll these repetitive activities take on the neck, back, shoulders, and hips. Monica knew that her second act needed to involve movement, physicality, and mindfulness as well as working with people who have experienced these same repetitive stress issues.
Monica has received STOTT Pilates instructor training in both the reformer (essential and intermediate) and matwork (essential and intermediate). Monica is also a Certified Personal Trainer from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach, NASM as well.
Monica is a competitive equestrian in the equestrian sport of Dressage. She has earned her bronze medal and is halfway to her silver medal. Pilates has been the perfect complement to her equestrian pursuits - which also involves a lot of core, strength, and balance work.
