Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a technique that stimulates the lymphatic system and helps the body to remove waste and toxins. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is not massage, but a technique using gentle, rhythmic strokes to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage it to transport lymphatic fluid through the lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating toxins and waste products from the body, which helps to maintain its natural balance.
While MLD is sometimes referred to as lymphatic massage, it is not a massage in the traditional sense. It utilizes very light, skin deep, touch to move lymph fluid; it does NOT involve manipulating muscles or any deep work.
Your first MLD session at BFL

We offer a one-hour intro to MLD session, but 90 min is optimal for this modality especially if treating more than one area. Please schedule one hour or 90 min for your first session and the MLD Practitioner will recommend what duration would be best moving forward.

You can wear loose-fitting clothing (or bring to change into) such as shorts, tank tops or sports bras. Or you can undress to your comfort level and the MLD practitioner will drape you with the sheet and only uncover the area needed to work.

MLD gets things moving so sometimes clients may need to use the bathroom mid-session so you can bring a robe from home in a bag with you, to quickly put that on and then go the restroom that is right next to the massage room and then return to the massage room if needed.
Some of the more common treatments of MLD include:
